The Centre for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS), and the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS) which CLACS succeeded at the beginning of 2021, have supported and facilitated the work of the Latin American Studies community in the UK and worldwide since 1965.
CLACS would like you to join us in continuing to shape the future of Latin American and Caribbean Studies in the UK and its networks and collaborations beyond. As we come to terms with the full impact of Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic, we anticipate that students and early career scholars will be in greater need of support and financial assistance. We would therefore ask you to take some time to explore our activities and consider making a lasting and transformative contribution to supporting them via a donation.
CLACS activities include a doctoral programme in Latin American and Caribbean Studies and support and training of Early-Career Scholars through our funded fellowship scheme, the UK’s only fully-funded postdoctoral fellowship scheme in Latin American Studies. We also run a programme of events to promote academic exchange, train postgraduates and early career scholars, and disseminate research to wide non-academic audiences, including NGOs, government and businesses. You can browse our website for further details.
Examples of what your support will enable
Early-Career Scholars Funded Fellowships
Your donation will enable CLACS to train the next generation of early career scholars, offering a competitive postdoctoral funded fellowship scheme that attracts the brightest minds from a diverse pool of global scholars. This scheme gives successful applicants time to publish their doctoral research and launch their academic careers, as well as offering networking and training opportunities. Find out more about these Fellowships and our previous Fellows.
Early-Career Scholars Research Funding
Your donation will offer support for CLACS Visiting Fellows to carry out their research activities, which might include attending a conference, hosting an event, publication costs, and so on. Every year CLACS hosts Visiting Fellows, some of whom are early-career Scholars, for periods up to 9 months. Support for the research activities of our early-career Fellows will offer them the possibility of disseminating their work and expanding their networks at a critical stage in their career.
