Profile

Korbinian Lindel is a PhD student at the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC) at the University of Giessen, Germany. He read German Studies, Philosophy and Ethics of Textual Cultures at the Universities of Munich, Erlangen and UC Berkeley. In his dissertation, funded by a scholarship from the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes, he analyses German geopolitics in the interwar period and the uptake of its ideas ('Lebensraum im Osten', 'struggle for space', 'blood-and-soil') in progressive modern literature. His research focuses on the literature of the Enlightenment and literary modernism. He is systematically interested in theories of popularity (see his book 'Popularität' in der deutschen Hochaufklärung, 2022) and the relationship between space and literature.
