Archive on 4 Image

Dr Clare George is interviewed by BBC Radio 4 for the 'Archive on 4' programme ‘Beating Hitler with Humour’ marking the 80th anniversary of the the start of the Second World War. 

Some of the most fascinating records of the work of German-speaking refugees from Nazi-occupied Europe from the archives of the Institute of Modern Languages Research at Senate House Library were featured in the BBC Radio 4 programme  broadcast on Saturday, 31 September. Miller Archivist Dr George introduced material from the Martin Miller and Hannah Norbert-Miller and Robert Lucas archives revealing the role played by refugees in BBC’s effort to win over hearts and minds in Nazi territories during the Second World War.
