Sylvia Naish Visiting Fellowships and Scholarships for 2018-19 Announced

Sylvia Naish Visiting Fellowships have been awarded to Margit Dirscherl and Robert Leucht. Dr Margit Dirscherl (Munich) will be spending September 2018 at the Institute pursuing her research into Thomas Mann’s theoretical conceptualisation of railway stations, and Dr Leucht (Zurich) will be at the IMLR in January and February conducting research into Alexander Pope and the German writers of the mid-18th century.

Maren Rohe, a doctoral student at the University of Birmingham researching into Polish and Russian narratives on Germany between individuality and media influence, has been awarded a Sylvia Naish Visiting Scholarship which she is taking up in the autumn term of 2018.

The Sylvia Naish Visiting Fellowships/Scholarships scheme is endowed by a generous bequest from the estate of Sylvia Naish, and are offered annually for research into any area of German language and literature at the Institute and its Germanic Studies Library and Archives. The awards are designed to assist scholars in the early stages of their careers.
