2018 Sylvia Naish Lecture Competition Winner Announced

The winner of this year’s Sylvia Naish Lecture competition is Francesca Roe, who will be giving her lecture entitled ‘"Von Satanischem Geschlecht": Gender and the Simulacrum at the Fin de Siècle on Thursday, 12 April 2018.

Francesca read German and Italian at the University of Oxford, where she wrote a dissertation on death and decay in the art of Alfred Kubin and the poetry of Georg Trakl. She went on to complete an MPhil at the University of Bristol with a thesis on representations of the Italian front in the art and poetry of Gustav Heinse, Stephanie Hollenstein and Albin Egger-Lienz. She is currently in her third year of doctoral research at Bristol.
