‘1000 Words for Belonging’ Podcast Launch
Are you a teacher, artist, parent or facilitator who works with young people?
How do we acknowledge and value the languages that are present in young people’s lives?
‘1000 Words for Belonging’ is a new 4-part podcast about language and belonging in the classroom. Following 6 years of creative collaboration between Neela Doležalová, an East London primary school, and the School of Advanced Study, this new podcast series shares insights and questions from the multilingual classroom.
Join us on 11 April for the podcast launch at Rich Mix in Bethnal Green.
The launch will be hosted by podcast producer and presenter, Neela Doležalová. There will also be readings and creative offerings from the wonderful poets Gabriel Akamo and Helen Bowell.
The launch will include workshop activities that share some of the creative ideas featured in the podcast. We hope that the launch provides a space for knowledge sharing and discussion about multilingualism in the arts, and in schools.
This event is free, but spaces are limited, so please register here.
The launch is being held in an exhibition space at Rich Mix that chronicles the entire ‘1000 Words for Belonging’ community project. The exhibition will be open on the 11th, 12th and 13th of April. So, if you can’t make the podcast launch, please do drop into the exhibition! More details here.
This project has been produced with public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and a grant from the University of London’s Knowledge Exchange fund.
