As Director of the Institute of Languages, Cultures and Societies, may I warmly welcome all prospective postgraduate research students.

Located steps away from world renowned research resources such as the British Library, British Museum and Senate House Library, we pride ourselves on being at the centre of academic and intellectual life in London.

The Institute is home to a diverse, international and vibrant community of scholars covering our major language areas, and is host to a lively programme of events, conferences and seminars throughout the academic year. Students are also welcome to attend events organised by the other Institutes in the School of Advanced Study.

The ILCS provides first-class supervision and guidance from our experienced team of scholars, and we are host to an important programme of personal and online postgraduate training.
