Ingeborg Bachmann, 'Todesarten'-Projekt, 4,17
A translation workshop on the poetry and prose of Ingeborg Bachmann, led by Lyn Marven (Liverpool) and Áine McMurtry (King's College London).
The workshop will begin with a short introduction to Bachmann's work. In the first half existing translations of a small number of Bachmann's poems will be compared, and an original translation of one poem produced. The second half of the workshop will focus on Bachmann's short text 'Berlin: Ein Ort für Zufälle'. The text is available on the website of the Deutsche Akademie für Sprache und Dichtung, but advance preparation is not required.
Participation is free and open to all, but advance online registration is required. Booking closes on Friday, 13 May. Refreshments provided.
Participants are also welcome to attend the Ingeborg Bachmann Now conference (18 and 19 May) and reading/Q&A with Maja Haderlap and Tess Lewis at the Austrian Cultural Forum on the evening of 17 May. Separate registration is required for both.
