Organised by the Centre for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS)
This event will provide insight into the struggles of paid domestic workers in Latin America through an exploration of films, texts, and digital media produced since the 1980s, either in collaboration with them or inspired by their experiences. The event marks the publishing of the book 'Paid to Care: Domestic Workers in Contemporary Latin American Culture' by Rachel Randall (Reader in Latin American Studies, QMUL).
Dr Randall will be joined by Geoffrey Kantaris (Professor of Latin American Culture, University of Cambridge), Sonia Roncador (Associate Professor of Luso-Brazilian Cultures, The University of Texas at Austin), and Maria Julia Rossi (Associate Professor, John Jay College, CUNY).
All are welcome to attend this free seminar, which will be held online via Zoom at 17:30 BST (UK time). You will need to register in advance to receive the online joining link. Please click on the Book Now button at the top of the page to register.
