Session Leader: Renata Brandao, University of East London (University profile)
Tailored for researchers in Languages, Cultures, and Societies, this session aims to equip participants with new digital research methodologies and skills to enhance their research methodologies and deepen their understanding of cultural narratives. This session focuses on using computational tools to analyse large text collections to identify recurring themes, keywords, and sentiment patterns. This session will explore tools such as Voyant Tools, Google Pinpoint, and AntConc, which enable efficient processing and analysis of large textual datasets. Additionally, insights from the Worldmaking in the Time of COVID-19 project will be integrated to illustrate the practical applications of these tools in analysing language as data.
Please note this session will involve small- and large-group discussions and those who register should be able to attend the full session and be prepared to interact with the session leader and the other participants. The initial presentation will be made available as a recording after the session.
