Ulrike Ulrich, who lives in Zurich, published her first novel, fern bleiben, in 2010. This was followed by a second novel, Hinter den Augen (2013) and a collection of short prose Draussen um diese Zeit in 2015. She is an active member of various writer networks, among them the Swiss PEN association's Writers-in-Exile-Projekt. Ulrich has received a number of prestigious awards for her work, one of them being the a 6-month writing fellowship financed by Landis & Gyr, which has brought her to London this year.

Marielle Sutherland is an experienced translator of German prose and poetry. Among her most notable translations are works by the German poet Rilke, published in Rainer Maria Rilke. Selected Poems, ed. Robert Vilain (OUP, 2011).
