Session Leaders: Professor Lucia Sa (University of Manchester), Dr Jamille Pinheiro Dias (ILCS/CLACS)

This training session will offer an introduction to frameworks for engaging with Indigenous cultural production, focusing on the intersections of race, coloniality, and identity in Latin America. Participants will become familiar with approaches for addressing Indigenous protagonism in art, film, and literature, while discussing strategies for amplifying Indigenous voices and fostering inclusive research practices. This training is particularly relevant for researchers and practitioners working in the fields of languages, cultures, and societies, as well as those interested in environmental humanities and decolonial studies. The session leaders will also share insights from collaborations with Indigenous artists, providing practical guidance on how to ethically engage in partnerships that seek to honour the protagonism and creativity of Indigenous cultural producers.
