Launched in 1987 at the then Institute of Germanic Studies (forerunner of the ILCS) at the University of London, the Colloquium met first on an annual basis, then from 1988, twice annually, with one meeting held at the Institute in London, and the second hosted by another university in the UK. Organised by a committee of students drawn from several universities, the Colloquium provides a friendly and informal forum for postgraduate students in all areas of German Studies to present and discuss their current research, and make contact with students from other universities. It is a measure of its success that the Colloquium now regularly attracts students from universities in mainland Europe and North America.
The 73rd Colloquium will be held in person at the University of London's Senate House. All are welcome to participate. Advance online registration is essential (fee: £10).
