Senate House can be approached from both Malet Street and Russell Square.

London Underground (Tube)

The nearest underground stations are Russell Square (Piccadilly Line), Goodge Street (Northern Line, Charing Cross branch), and Tottenham Court Road (Northern Line, Central Line, and Elizabeth Line).

Other underground stations within walking distance are Euston, Euston Square, Holborn, King's Cross/St Pancras and Warren Street

Euston, King's Cross and St Pancras mainline rail stations are all within walking distance. 

There are direct connections from Heathrow Airport from both Russell Square (Piccadilly Line) and Tottenham Court Road (Elizabeth Line).

Car

The Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) operates inside the M25 motorway around London. Vehicles which do not meet the ULEZ emissions standards or other exemption are liable to pay the £12.50 daily charge to drive within the zone. The charge operates 24 hours a day and on all days other than Christmas Day (25 December). For further details consult the Transport for London website.

Parking is not available at Senate House, except for a limited number of spaces for disabled drivers (this must be pre-booked). Parking in the streets nearby is metered. There are several NCP carparks close to Russell Square (expensive).

When You Arrive

Most Institute events take place in Senate House South Block.

Senate House South Block

Senate House South Block is on your left as you approach from Russell Square (that is, go through the car park and turn left when you reach the Senate House cloister), or on your right as you approach from Malet Street. Please ask Reception on your arrival who will be able to give you directions to the exact location of any meeting room you are looking for. The lift and staircase are located in the entrance lobby as you enter the building. 

The Germanic Studies Library

The Germanic Studies Library is located within Senate House Library on the fourth floor. Open-access sections are housed on the fourth floor of the South Block; volumes on closed access can be ordered online for reading within the library.
